To say I love California is an understatement.

While staying in Santa Monica I walked along the ocean to the famous Venice Beach. It was fabulously eclectic, intriguing and altogether fabulous. I also saw the biggest seagull in the world- the size of a cat.

Colourful and authentic, I loved people watching as I strolled the boardwalk sipping a lemonade and catching a delicious whiff of deep fried churro. I stopped to watch some basketball, musclemen lifting weights and skateboarders switch flipping or goofy something…or whatever it is that skateboarders do. I watched tourists pay too much money for NWA tees and groups of friends sauntering along the sidewalk discussing dinner plans.

Among other things I contemplated in Southern California, I also decided that if I had to be homeless, Venice Beach was probably the place to do it. Not that I aspire to become homeless, no. I just understood why the homeless population was so high. The weather was warm, the ocean nearby and the people friendly- As far as homeless hangouts go, this one made sense.

I captured bits and pieces of Venice Beach on my afternoon walk. I put a few moments together to share with you.

(Please note the guy on the bars in the background of my chat with Rick…)

Enjoy and stay tuned for more SoCal!
