November 8th 2012 -Burlington’s finest, Merriam Music & Panago Pizza get excited for the Santa 5k

Burlington’s finest & Merriam Music Competition Contestants spread pre-holiday cheer at The Burlington Performing Arts Centre, raising awareness for the 2012 Santa 5k

12:30pm – Thursday, November 8th, Merriam Music Contestants will be joined by councillor Paul Sharman & The BPAC’s Graham Frampton, handing out free Panago Pizza & singing carols outside of The Burlington Performing Arts Centre.

These festive folk will be raising awareness for the 5k Santa Race taking place Saturday December 8th in support of St. John’s Ambulance and Community Living Burlington. The Merriam Music Contest, a display of exceptional musical talent, takes place November 9th at The BPAC, where Halton’s young Superstars vie for a record scholarship and more.

With an array of exceptional sponsors, this year’s Santa 5k race will raise funds for St. John’s Ambulance and Community Living Burlington, a charity in support of individuals living with developmental disabilities. Councillor Paul Sharman will be participating in the race and hopes to encourage health and fitness among Burlington residents and their families. Thousands of participants will don the race-issued Santa suits and take to the streets of Burlington clad in a flurry of holiday cheer.

“The Santa 5K is a great event for every member of the family,” said race organizer Kelly Arnott of VR Pro. “Whether you’re planning on participating in the race, or simply want to cheer on our Santa’s, we encourage everyone to come out for this fun and festive event.” The race has been a resounding success in Burlington, attracting 4000+ Santa’s per year since its launch in 2008. The race starts at and ends at City Hall, and travels through Locust and Brant St., with ceremonies and Panago Pizza at The Burlington Performing Arts Centre, post-race. The City of Burlington is excited to be part of such a unique, charitable and exciting holiday tradition.
